
For art fans across the region the wait’s been long, but now for the first time in many years, the Archibald Prize is heading back to Tamworth Regional Gallery and best of all, you can see it for free!
This touring exhibition is an exciting opportunity for residents and visitors to the region to see all 57 Archibald Prize finalists.
This year’s exhibition offers a diverse line-up of subjects including some famous faces - rocker Jimmy Barnes, actor Guy Pearce, musician Courtney Barnett and NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian.

Bridget Guthrie, Director of the Tamworth Regional Gallery and Museums says this is a great opportunity for Tamworth.

“It’s enormously exciting to have the Archibald Prize back on tour and coming to Tamworth. It’s a showcase of some of Australia’s finest artists,” Ms Guthrie said.
“Thanks to the support of the University of New England we are able to offer the exhibition free of charge to visitors and I would urge everyone to come along and see some of the incredible works on display.”
- The free exhibition will be available to the general-public from Saturday 1st December 2018 until Sunday 27th January 2019 and will be open Tuesday to Friday 10:00am to 5:00pm, and weekends 10:00am to 4:00pm.
