Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson said he was “thrilled” to announcement the funding.
“Young people often think they don’t have a voice and with the Youth Council planning to hold an event every month this will create opportunities for them to be heard on education, mental health and other community issues,” Mr Anderson said.
“This will give thousands of young people across the region the confidence and drive to reach their potential.
“Our young people are our future and I am always thinking of how I can find ways to improve what we can do.”

Tamworth councillor Charles Impey said the Youth Council’s nine members were “very open-minded young people”, who were aware of the issues young people in the region faced.
“They’ll be working on a number of projects that will respond to those challenges and give young people the voice they need,” Cr Impey said.
“They do think big and they do think broadly, and they’ll come up with some wonderful ideas.”
