The new manager said fitness and physical activities had proved to be popular among kids visiting the club.
Youth case manager Senior Constable Katelen Visser said the club was valuable for giving young people positive interactions with police.
“We can then support them in any way we possibly can,” she said. “But also for all those youth that might need a little bit more support and focus in other aspects in their life, we are able to focus on their case management, connecting them with other services in the area to assist them with employment or education options.”
PCYC chief executive officer Dominic Teakle said upgrades could be tailored to local needs. “We pride ourselves on serving the communities in which we work by tailoring our programs and facilities to their unique needs,” he said.
“That is why we need help from those within the Tamworth community to inform the decisions we will be required to make about PCYC Tamworth moving forward.”
