Just three years after launching his Cultural Tours business Len Waters has noticed “a healthy urge from people wanting to know more about first people and their culture.”

Last Friday night in Orange Mr Waters once again found himself centre stage, accepting the prestigious Australia Customer Service gong at the 2018 Regional Achievement and Community Awards.
“To be recognised like this is great,” Mr Waters said.
“But the real value come out of knowing that my people and my elders are really proud of the fact that we are out there doing things to keep the culture alive, and promoting Aboriginal people and culture in a very positive light.”

The organisation was also nominated in the Business Achievement Award after recently picking up the Premier’s Award, the TAFE Gili Award and a Regional Heritage Award.
“The biggest thing for me is that we are evolving,” Mr Waters said.
“We started small with the cultural tours, but now we are doing things that I never would have dreamt of.
“We are developing soundtracks for soundtrail companies, taking on heritage and cultural projects and surveys, and teaching corporate businesses about Aboriginal people and the land.”
Mr Waters has also recently been contracted to consult on a television series and movie.
“We are really branching out and going further afield, and people are really engaged and entertained by it,” Mr Waters said.
“We live in a very insular world, so when you open people’s cultural eyes it can give an entirely new perspective – they see things differently than they did before – that’s what I love about it.”
