This year, the North West Brain Foundation branch donated $20,000 to Professor Karl Ng who is beginning research into the cause of migraine headaches.
Branch president Pip Warner said the Tamworth group made the choice to donate to the migraine project because she believed it was something which touched a lot of people in the community.

Ms Warner was impressed with the turn-out to the Sunday event which slotted in to a busy social weekend in Tamworth.
It was the 15th edition of the Tamworth Christmas fair and Ms Warner said a support shown could see the fundraising coffers tipped past the $20,000 mark.
Susi Bell lives with migraines and she hoped the research would lead to better understanding of the illness.
“Preventative measures are better than the treatment so it would be good to know what triggers it; is it food or stress, can we control stress in certain ways to prevent it from happening,” she said.
According to Deloitte Economics, migraine sufferers and their families cost the health system about $2 billion and lose about 30 working days a year.
