The club has secured a new coach in Col McKenzie and is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2018 season.
McKenzie said he was going to bring “a fresh approach” to the club next year.
“We plan on starting pre-season training a lot earlier this season than last year,” McKenzie said.
“For this season, the club started in March, which is a bit too late. By starting earlier we should be able to install a greater sense of stability and structure in the group that wasn’t there this season.”

Along with a new head coach, the club is also hoping a new women’s team will help attract more players to the club.
“At the moment we have got a great bunch of young guys around the club and it would be great to have their families along as well,” McKenzie said.
“I think having a women’s team will not only be a great idea for next year, I think it will be great for our club’s future.”
Lions veteran Gordan McNeil said the introduction of women’s team could be the key to attracting more players to the club.
“The feeling around the club is that a women’s team will help add to the family atmosphere Quirindi is already known for,” McNeil said.
“We have already had an exceptional response so far.
“It is really exciting to see the club take this step forward and hopefully we can build on it in the coming weeks.”
Preparations for the Lions’ 2019 season are in full swing, with discussions regarding practice matches already taking place.
“At the moment we are trying to organise a trial match against Easts, either here or at their ground,” McKenzie said.
“I think playing against a city team would be great for our guys, it would be a whole new experience for them.
“Obviously we have some work to do, but things are certainly looking up for 2019.”
