Tamworth Growers’ Market, which has become a regular feature in Kable Avenue every Saturday morning, has outgrown its current site and will be moving a short distance along Kable Avenue on 1 December.
The new site will be just on the other side of the Tamworth Regional Playground, between the playground and the Waler Memorial.
“The market has outgrown our current site outside Hopscotch Restaurant,” said Market Manager Nancy Harlock.
“The new location will allow more stalls in the shade under the plane trees, and the ability to spread out as we continue to attract more stallholders.
“With more space, it will allow us to add more activities – music, cooking demonstrations and even children’s activities in a safe, open area away from the road.
“We are all excited about the opportunities the new site will provide, with room to expand and really become a Saturday morning event for the Tamworth community.
The market will continue to focus on local, seasonal produce grown in a healthy and sustainable way.Market Manager Nancy Harlock.
“We would like people to come to the market and stay for a while, enjoying the market atmosphere, relaxing with some great food and coffee and sitting under the shade while their children are taking advantage of the wonderful playground.
“The market will continue to focus on local, seasonal produce grown in a healthy and sustainable way, but we are also inviting people who create artisan products, or products which are ethically produced and which support fair trade or which promote a sustainable future and healthy lifestyle.”
Incoming Chair of Tamworth Growers’ Market Adele Mazoudier, who was elected at the group’s annual general meeting recently, is committed to continuing the healthy and ethical focus of the market.
“People are becoming more aware not only of how their food is produced, but also how other products that they use have an impact on our environment and on the lives of the people producing them,” said Ms Mazoudier.
“The Tamworth Growers’ Market promotes both healthy and ethical production, with minimal packaging to reduce waste.”
