An early hiccup hasn’t stopped the Tamworth Swans bid to field a women’s team in 2019.
The club’s first female-only come and try day was washed out but a new date has been confirmed.
This Sunday, December 9, a come and try day will be held at Riverside 3.
Females aged 12 and up are welcome to have a kick from 3pm.

The Tamworth Swans are ramping up their efforts to field a team in the AFL North West women’s competition in 2019.
The club is working closely with AFL development officers in the hope of having enough numbers by the time the season starts next year.
Nathalie Joice is one of the driving forces behind the push and said the Swans wanted players of all skill levels to join up.
“I don’t expect people to have experience. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never even held and AFL ball, watched a game or know any of the rules. We can teach you,” Joice said.
“It’s about joining a friendly club, having a bit of fun and learning something new.”
The women’s competition has continued to grow in the North West since its inception in 2017 and Joice wanted to further that growth.
“I think it would advance the competition. The sport’s becoming more popular and on top of the Roos winning the premiership last year, it’s created more interest in Tamworth so there’s definitely the numbers out there,” she said.
The Swans will run female-only come and try days over the next three months.
