A man has been arrested and search warrants are underway as part of investigations into the alleged armed robbery of cash-in-transit guards in Sydney’s south-west earlier this year.

The arrest took place at Coonabrabran police station on Wednesday morning.
The incident took place in April this year when two armed guards were intercepted by a silver Volkswagen Golf as they exited their armoured truck for a delivery on Mackinder Street, Clemton Park just after 11am.

Two men, both allegedly armed with rifles, got out of the Golf and threatened the guards, demanding cash.
One of the men allegedly approached the guards, and unsuccessfully attempted to remove one of their firearms, before stealing the cash bags and returning to the Golf, which was then driven from the location at speed.
The guards were not physically injured during the incident.
Officers from Campsie Police Area Command attended a short time later and established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic officers.
Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad established Strike Force Callagher to investigate the incident.
Following extensive investigations, a 35-year-old man was arrested at Coonabarabran Police Station just after 10am on Wednesday.
Shortly after the arrest, strike force investigators, assisted by the Public Order and Riot Squad, executed two search warrants at homes at Cambridge Park and Shanes Park.
