Izzy Bramley and Kayla Riggs from Oxley High School have organised The Do or Dye Ability Colour Run as part of the Youth Frontiers mentoring program.
The Year 8 girls hope it will bring people together, increase awareness of disability and disadvantage, promote accessibility and inclusion, and raise money for Northcott.

“A colour run, we thought, would be an easy way to get the community involved, and to be able to raise social awareness,” Kayla said.
“We’ve made the colour run disability-accessible, so people with disabilities can run it or walk the track, or whatever they want to do.”
The fun run will start and finish at McKellar Stage, going along the levee bank.
The participants will receive coloured chalk powder to throw around during the run, and more for one all-in colour explosion at the end. The school will also provide a sausage sizzle after the run.
Izzy said the event was “to bring everyone together”.
“We thought that people with a disability were overlooked a lot and couldn’t get involved in a lot of things, so we thought by making a colour run on a track they can run on, there would be social inclusion,” she said.
The two 14-year-olds have contacted businesses, individuals and non-profit groups to fundraise and prepare, even securing a Regional Australia Bank sponsorship for costs such as the coloured powder.
Their mentor, Sara Crowe, said she was “really impressed with them”.
“They’ve done a lot of work themselves; I’ve just been there to guide them through the process,” she said.
“To see already 100 people registered for the event is fantastic, and I just hope to see more people come down and support them, Youth Frontiers and Northcott on Saturday.”
