The founders of the regional women’s network, Michelle Morgan and Dimity Smith, told their supporters in a newsletter that, “very sadly, we have come to the end of the road”.

Ms Smith told The Leader the business had become more demanding, as had the two women’s lives, and “we both came to that decision – it’s been really sad”.

Ms Smith said the highlight for her had been “meeting amazing women”.

“I’ve been in Tamworth nine years now, and I’ve got to meet these amazing women and girls, and guys, too ... that I don’t think I otherwise would have met,” she said.

“The people we’ve met, we’ll continue to have friendships with for a long time.”

She hoped the Savvy Birds legacy would be “the connections that have been made”.

“I hope the message we’ve left that will stay with people is: we want all kinds of women to achieve great things, rurally and regionally.”
