Douglas Frederick Kirk is facing four charges and was excused from attending Tamworth Local Court on Monday, but maintained his pleas of not guilty.
The 57-year-old is accused of stealing $68,009 from the Tamworth Aboriginal Lands Council in two separate transactions between 3pm and 3.30pm on July 4 in West Tamworth.
He’s then accused of receiving stolen property, namely the cash, between July 4 and August 8, and dealing with the suspected proceeds of crime at the same time in West Tamworth.
Kirk is charged with two counts of larceny, disposing of stolen property and dealing with property that is the suspected proceeds of crime.
