The 2017 Toyota Star Maker finalist has been on the road touring his newest album Call Out for the Cavalry.
“When I looked at my songs in hindsight there is a common theme about someone asking for help and it’s ignored,” he said.
“They’re not all help me songs but there is an underlying theme, there’s also songs on there about failed relationships.
“There’s a song where I pretend to miss someone to practice what it felt like to miss someone again.”
The soulful singer found his way into country music late in the game, and living in Melbourne, fans aren’t as easy to come by as they are in regional towns, but there is a growing country scene.
Every summer, Swift packs up the car and heads on the Great Australian Caravan Park Country Music Showcase.

He loves the more relaxed, holiday feel of the shows and bringing his music to regional Australia.
“Caravan parks are full of young families and grey nomads, most of those people would never come and see you play in a bar because they have to get a babysitter for the night,” he said.

“So instead of waiting for them to come to us, we go to them.
“Everyone’s on holidays and can sit in a picnic chair with a glass of wine and some nibblies for a couple of hours.
“You meet so many interesting people and what’s great about it is that they feel like they’re on the journey with you – so it’s great to make fans at a grassroots level.”
Swift is headed back to play at The Tamworth Hotel on Friday November 9 from 7pm, the show is free to attend.
