Tamworth had some unusual little visitors recently (October 27 and 28), when 43 Mokes joined the Moke Roundup 2018.

Participants came from NSW, Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria, South Australia and one person even flew in from The Netherlands to join the group (in a Moke kindly lent to him for the duration of the event).
The event was wonderfully planned and organised as always by Steve, Greg, Michael and Mat and was based at Austin Caravan Park with daily outings to towns, hotels, lookouts, picnic spots and scenic areas around our beautiful district.
Some of the places visited included Bendemeer, Moonbi, Somerton, Walcha Road Hotel, Woolbrook, Nundle, Hanging Rock, and Currabubula amongst others.
The Mokes travelled along dirt roads and trails including Bungendore Spur, and the Northern train line to Limbri.
The idea of The Roundup was simply for like-minded people with a love of these funny little cars to get together and explore some of the unique and beautiful places the district has to offer.
This year they also had a couple of fundraisers running throughout the week.
As well as a raffle there was a Moke Wheel Roulette – where the spinning numbers were actually painted onto the tyres of one of the vehicles, with all proceeds going towards local drought relief.
Some of the visitors also made personal donations and local fuel and eating places were visited regularly.
At Manilla they enjoyed a picnic lunch by the weir before 23 of the more adventurous Mokes completed the climb to the top of Mt Borah.
The Sunday saw them at The Golden Guitar and the Tamworth Lookout as they said goodbye to our city – after some of them attended the Hay Mate drought relief concert the night before.
