The hot and windy conditions made shooting tricky at the sixth annual Schools Clay Target Competition at Loomberah on Friday.
But Peter Holmes, the longstanding coach at the Tamworth Clay Target Club, said the 36 students from schools in the region and outside it made the event a “great success”.
“There were some very talented shooters out there … it was a very successful day,” he said.
Fletcher Richardson, of Guyra Central School, posted the top score for the day while Woodenbong Central School claimed the schools title.
“I think daylight might have come second,” Holmes said of Woodenbong’s dominance.
