THERE is still time for residents of the Liverpool Plains to have their say on how the council can best use $1 million of federal government drought assistance funding.

Over recent weeks, the council has visited residents across the shire to host brainstorming meetings on how to best use the funding.
However, Liverpool Plains shire mayor Andrew Hope said there was still time for locals who missed the meetings to have their say.
“The council is encouraging people who couldn’t make one of the meetings to have their say via a quick on line questionnaire at www.surveymonkey.com/r/LPSCweneedyourideasdroughtrelief,” Cr Hope said.
“It is open until November 16 and we want to hear from as many residents as possible.”

Cr Hope said locals who had attended the meeting had a better understanding of the federal government’s guidelines of how the funds could be used.
“I think many people who attended meetings were quite surprised at the conditions attached to gaining it,” he said.
“We must put forward projects that aren’t in the council’s budget or forward plans.”
Cr Hope said it was important the community come together on how to best use the funding.
“If we are successful we have to mobilise a local workforce and equipment to complete projects by June 2019,” he said.
“It is a real challenge and one where power of community must be activated if we are to gain the desired outcomes.
“Thus, the importance of as many people as possible providing their input to the process.”
