The group recently submitted an application for $419,780 of funding from the federal government to help establish a new export hub in the region.
JO chairman Jamie Chaffey said the proposed export hub would help accelerate trade opportunities for food and agribusinesses across the five member shires.
“Funding is being sought to provide a new business development resource for exporters in the region,” Cr Chaffey said.
“They will have a very clear focus, which will be to help small to medium enterprise to accelerate opportunities for export.
“We want the export hub to work directly with exporters to help them navigate hurdles by providing access to education, business assistance, branding and marketing.”

The JO’s push for the potential project comes off the back of recent tips to China, where the group has sought to build future business relationships.
“Agriculture and agri-business underpin the economy of the Namoi region, and we are widely regarded as a highly productive region,” Cr Chaffey said.
“There is enormous potential to boost exports into the future, by being part of delivering clean and green produce and commodities to parts of the world.
“Our region is widely known as a very productive region and this export hub will really go a long way to helping a variety of different businesses export their product overseas in the future.”
