It was a Sunday afternoon and a handful of people were sitting round the table at their home Bible study and the idea just evolved.

There’s a long week-end coming up. Why don’t we all head out west and see if we can bless someone.

It turned out that one of them had some old friends out west, so he got on the blower, rang a mate and the whole thing was sorted.

That Saturday saw a line of cars, caravans, five families and a bunch of kids set out from Attunga for the 360km to Tullamore in Central NSW.

They camped at the mate’s property, cooked for everybody, did some motorbike riding and shooting and generally had a ball.

The triple townships of Trundle, Tullamore and Tottenham each have a church, but they haven’t had a minister for years.

So when the word got round that this tribe had arrived from Tamworth Baptists, they closed up and all gathered at the Tullamore Church.

There were quite a few musos among the mob and one of the blokes preached. Somebody said it was like a breath of fresh air.

After church, there was a community lunch hosted by the Tamworth mob and  gifts of food and food vouchers were presented.

A visitor said: “We wanted to bless the local people. But bringing in a lot of food would have put the local shops out of business. So we bought some local shopping vouchers and gave them out.

“It was an opportunity to not just tell how good God is, but to show it by doing something to help and encourage. It was something practical we could do.”
