Liverpool Plains Shire Council (LPSC) is advising residents that disruptions to traffic will occur in Quirindi between November 5 and 9 to allow for essential watermain repair works to be undertaken.
LPSC director of engineering services Warren Faulkner said the changed road conditions were necessary.
“One of the pipes beneath the roundabout at George and Henry Streets and the Henry Street rail crossing is being relined due to a failure that occurred in August,” Mr Faulkner said.
“To allow the works to be undertaken, Campbell Street will be closed in both directions from the 6 November through until Friday 9 at the latest.
“It will be reopened earlier if the work can be finished ahead of schedule.”
Traffic disruptions will include the closure of parking spaces, in Henry Street between George Street and Church Avenue from Monday through until Friday as well,” Mr Faulkner said.
“The work will see a slip liner placed inside the existing pipe.
“This will help minimise disruption to traffic and rail services during the period and will be one of the first examples of this replacement method being used in Australia.”
“LPSC apologises for any inconvenience this essential work may cause.
“However, action now will help improve the integrity of water supply distribution through this part of the network into the future.”
