Thirty-six years after he was crowned StarMaker, Kernaghan will return to where it all started in Tamworth.
”I love everything about it,” he said.
“The big crowds, the long summer days filled with all the different styles of country music – not to mention the opportunity to see new talent bursting onto the scene.”
He first began visiting the festival in the early 80s with his dad, Ray Kernaghan.
Now, he wants to support the next generation of country music artists.
“I’d encourage all new and emerging artists to begin their journey in Tamworth,” he said.
Kernaghan will take to the stage at TREC on Thursday 24th of January.
“What a story and what an icon for Australian country music”, Toyota Country Music Festival manager Barry Harley said.
