Kicking off October 20, the games are a celebration of wounded warriors turned athletes.
Veterans and their families watched on in Tamworth on Friday as the flag took its place next to another symbol of national pride – the Australian flag.
The Invictus Games is an international adaptive multi-sport event, created by Prince Harry, in which wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel and their associated veterans take part in sports including wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, and indoor rowing.
An international sporting event for wounded, injured and ill veteran and active service personnel, the Invictus Games highlights the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation, and generate a wider understanding of and respect for those who serve their country.
