The 56-year-old was refused bail in Armidale Local Court on Monday, charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Police allege the man got into an altercation with his 53-year-old brother shortly after 7pm on Sunday at an Armidale unit.
“The accused is alleged to have armed himself with a brick and struck the victim to the head causing a wound,” Detective Inspector Ann Joy said.
“A witness to the incident has intervened and has removed the brick from the offender.”
Police claim the man then left the unit in North East Armidale and then returned.
“He returned a short time later and armed himself with a piece of concrete which he is alleged to have used to strike the victim, and the victim suffered a deep wound to the head,” Detective Inspector Joy said.
