NINE community projects from across the Narrabri shire are set to benefit from a welcome funding boost thanks to the state government.

More than $1.6 million will be injected into the region as a part of the state government’s stronger country communities program and will be distributed between the nine projects.
Narrabri Shire Council general manager Stewart Todd said it was very exciting to see local community groups receive a funding boost.
“This is very welcomed funding and will go a long way in ensuring infrastructure and amenities within the region are maintained and enhanced,” Mr Stewart said.
“The stronger country communities fund invests in infrastructure projects in regional NSW communities to improve the lives of residents and enhance the attractiveness of these areas as vibrant places to live and work.”

Narrabri shire mayor Cathy Redding said she congratulated all of the successful applicants, and looked forward to seeing work begin on projects across the region.
“It gives the whole town a great sense of pride, and optimism, when community amenities such as playgrounds and tennis courts are being renewed and enjoyed by all,” Cr Redding said.
“This funding will make a huge impact for our hardworking community groups, who dedicate countless hours to ensure our community has every sporting and social opportunity, with the infrastructure to match.”

- Cooma Oval cricket and multi-purpose sporting infrastructure- $72,450
- Narrabri Creek walk/cycle path, stage two and three- $302,404
- Narrabri West Lake walk/cycle path- $85,453
- Sporting infrastructure and community meeting place facilities for Wee Waa’s Dangar Park- $334,965
- Baan Baa community playground facilities- $61,980
- Community meeting place and playground facilities in Gwabegar- $94,600
- Spring Plains Hall and tennis court infrastructure- $152,871
- Narrabri Pistol Club amenity infrastructure- $91,107
- Narrabri and Wee Waa bowling clubs synthetic turf project- $498,806
