The day is played in honour of the late former West Tamworth Sports and Bowling Club director, and life member, and drew bowlers from the respective Tamworth clubs as well as Werris Creek, Manilla and Kootingal.
“We had a full green of bowlers,” Hennessey’s son Bob said, adding that “a great day was had by all”.
One of the traditions is a lunch of pies, potatoes, peas and gravy – which was one of Phil’s favourites.
“That’s what we’ve had all the years since he passed on and we’ve kept it as a tradition,” Bob said.
The combination of Doug Stewart and Ian Furner were presented with the Phil Hennessey Memorial Shield as the day’s winners.
On Wednesday players will take to the green in memory of another former club member.
Now into it’s sixth year the John Paul Vella Memorial Pairs has drawn two full greens of teams.
