Adam McGuirk, Kaleb McIlveen, Hayden Baker, BJ Cameron and Jackson Gwynne have been named in a new-look Bolters squad for the Plan B Regional Big Bash Sixers Conference round-robin clashes – the youth injection the result of player unavailability.
They will join experienced campaigners such as skipper Tom Groth, Ben Middlebrook, Tom O’Neill, Simon Norvill and Lachlan Cameron.
The side also includes Narrabri spinner Jelany Chilia, who played for East-Asia Pacific at the national country championships last year.
The Bolters are due to play the Coffs Coast Chargers on Saturday afternoon before a double-header against the Northern Rivers Rock and the Macquarie Coast Stingers on Sunday.
Winning the pool would see the Bolters advance to the finals at the SCG.

McGuirk was one of standout performers of the four-day under-18 carnival.
Playing for the Central North Navy side, he scored almost 200 runs, including a brilliant unbeaten 110.
Veteran batsman Middlebrook is back in the side for the first time since 2015, the inaugural year of the Twenty20 competition, when the Border Bullets beat the Bolters by six runs under lights in the final at the SCG.
He said the latest Bolters side had a “good mix of experience and youth” but would “probably” be the underdogs in Port Macquarie, although he expects the team to perform solidly.
He said: “They [the youngsters] all did well at the under-18 carnival on the weekend, so they’ll bring some enthusiasm and some energy into the field, and it will be a good experience for them.”
