On Saturday, residents will flock to Town Hall to raise funds for mental health group Batyr.
With more than three kilometres of fairy lights strung up, it’s hoped the fundraiser can bring a little brightness to an issue that keeps so many in the dark.
A fundraiser for mental health, every cent will go to Batyr, a preventative mental health organisation that directly impacts the lives of people in the region.
The aim is to try to smash the stigma surrounding mental illness ball chair Tayla Maloney said.
“Especially in regional areas people don’t go and ask for help,” she said.
“We’re looking at creating a positive vibe around something that’s so serious and the drought only brings it out even more.”
So far the ball has raised $360,000 for Batyr, tickets are sold out with more than 450 people attending on Saturday night.
