Four Tamworth junior athletes have qualified for the state athletics championship in Sydney this month.

Isabella Wall qualified via the Polding Championships in Newcastle, where she won the 100m, 200m and 800m – recording a meet record in the 200m. The record had stood for six years in the 10-year age group.
Abbie Peet qualified via an independent school multi-class event, where she placed second in the 800m, third in the 100m, third in shot put and third in discus – all in the 10-year age group.
At the regional championships last month, Mia Allan and McKenna Barnett-Suey excelled in the 10-year and 11-year sections, respectively – with Allan first in the 100m, 200m and relay, while Barnett won the 200m.
Their coach, Wally Warner, thanked them and the other children he coaches for their efforts this year, and their parents for entrusting him with the task – “which has been wonderful, with fantastic results for a lot of the children, which makes me very proud”.
