Feline companion Milo sought safe haven up a tree only to become stuck several metres from the ground, Dubbo Rescue Squad reported.
Squad members and a long extension ladder were called in to assist.
“Milo is an indoor cat, but got outside… and was chased by a dog up a tree,” squad captain Neil Sturrock said.
Milo was placid and happy to be back in her owner’s arms, he said.
“They were pretty happy and appreciative to have Milo back safe,” he said.
The night before the squad had been called out to rescue Boof the dog from the river.
The cattle dog’s lead had become wrapped around a stump in the river.
Mr Sturrock said it was lucky Boof had been able to get a foothold on the same stump.
With fast-flowing, shallow water, it was a trickier rescue, but the volunteer rescuers were able to get their boat there, cut the lead and bring Boof back to the shore.
