SOME feathered friends at Tamworth’s marsupial park have proven to be quite fruitful in the last few years. Beneath father emu is another clutch of eggs, with new chicks due later in the month.

It could mark the third straight year the flightless birds have boosted their brood.
Volunteer John McDarmont said prior to the current run, there was a five year gap between eggs being laid.
If any more than one chick emerges from the six eggs, Mr McDarmont said the park organisers would have to contact other zoos and facilities to find alternative homes.
The news of the park’s eggs-pectant parents marks the start of a busy period for the mini-menagerie, with crowds tipped to boom over the school holidays.
The park is open seven days a week and entry is free.
