Just under 2300 head of cattle were up for bids at the September 18 sale, almost 100 more than at the September 11 sale.
Gunnedah stock agent Guy Gallen said rain over the coming weeks would see a major impact on upcoming markets.
“Fingers crossed we do get a bit of rain in the next couple of weeks,” Mr Gallen said.
“If it happens to rain again in the short term, I think there is a little bit of a light at the end of the tunnel.
“Otherwise we could be struggling right across the region.
“Let’s hope this recent rain isn’t a false break in the weather and we do see some rain come.”

Mr Gallen said sellers were currently being rewarded despite the dry weather.
“It’s pleasing to see those sellers who have hung onto their cows and finshed them be well rewarded,” he said.
“They clearly had a goal in mind, knew the right time to sell and are taking full advantage of the current prices.”
