The inaugural Jack Cutcliffe Memorial Shield will go up for grabs on Wednesday night as three local schools come together to remember a friend, teammate and tough opponent by doing what he loved.

Jack was in year 11 at McCarthy, and captain of the Pirates U17 side, when he tragically collapsed and passed away following a training run in March last year.
McCarthy College’s year 12 group have organised the big evening, which will see three games played at Farrer, kicking off with the McCarthy girls taking on Calrossy in sevens at 5pm.
Jack’s sister Georgia is returning from school at Yanco to join the McCarthy girls on the field in a moving tribute to her brother, before McCarthy take on Farrer Gold at 6pm, and Calrossy play Farrer in the final match at 7pm.

McCarthy rugby captain Noah Cook said the shield was “really something we wanted to make happen to remember Jack’s life before we left school.”
“It is something we would like to see carry on every year to remember Jack,” he said.
“It was great of Farrer and Calrossy to offer to play us, and great to see the girls getting a game and Georgia coming back to play.”
The public are invited to attend the games at Farrer’s John Simpson Oval.
