The side – coached by Greg Barton who was taken much of his personal time to mentor the boys – has been training at school and on weekends in preparation.
Tamworth Public strung together five wins on the trot to progress to the finals.
They beat Tamworth West Public School, Nemingha Public School, Quirindi Public School, Timbumburi Public School and Sandon Public School to be crowned North West champions.
The team – which has been described as solid and includes four representative players – will play at the Sutherland Basketball Courts for a spot in the final four on Monday.
Tamworth Public will take on Telarah Public School – who are the Hunter champions – in that game.
Other teams in the top eight are Narranga Public School, Griffith North Public School, Mount St Thomas Public School, Cronulla Public School, Wahroonga Public School and West Wyalong Public School.
