Publican Andrew Yeo and his staff are letting the inaugural Mullets for Motor Neurone Disease competition flow, and plenty of locals have already vowed to sign up.
While some fundraisers might go for a day, a week or a month, the Kooty team want to see some solid growth, and solid support, which is why growers can start their mullets at any time.
Mulleteers have over three months to groom, mould and shape their masterpiece until the pub hosts the awards and family fun day in the beer garden in January.
Awards will be handed out for best overall mullet, as well as categories including feral mullet, best groomed-mullet, longest mullet, and mulletude, which is “how you wear the mullet”, as well as most money raised mullet.

Staff member Erin Gissane challenged Mr Yeo to grow a mullet as the team were having a drinks a few weeks ago, and the rest will be history.
“I thought he should grow a mullet, and he said he would if we could raise money for MND – and it just took off from there,” she said.
“A lot of people have already said they are in, but we will see how many register – I think there will be a fair few.”
A few years ago Andrew’s father Graham was diagnosed with the incurable neurological disease. They are one of numerous North West families fighting, or that have fought, what is known as ‘the beast.’
“It’s a different idea and should be a lot of fun, we are already having a laugh” Mr Yeo said.
“It is also about raising awareness, if someone comments on your mullet let them know why you are growing one.
“We are going to make a really big event of the shave-off and awards day in January, and are also getting shirts and stubby holders made as well.”
