BROTHERLY Love scooted along the rail to a $22,000 Easters Landscapes and Supplies Spring Cup (1200m) at Tamworth on Tuesday.

A brilliant Louise Day ride secured the Spring Cup for Inverell trainer Shane Edmonds after the former jockey had told the female apprentice to lead on the striking chestnut gelding.

“He missed the jump,” Day said after the eight-year-old son of Barely A Moment had beaten fast-finishing Fast Tycoon (Greg McFarlane) with Mark Mason’s Skyscraper third.

“That was a blessing in disguise.”

She then took a sit on the rails and trailed leader Hellaroo into the straight before taking advantage of the cutaway rail and scooting to an eighth career win.

“Louise has three rides for me now and won all three,” Edmonds said.

“I told her to lead but then she used her brains. Brilliant ride.”

He said he has “done nothing with him all week” since his 11th to Eljetem in the Moree Cup.

“He had a big weight and they took him on up there,” Edmonds said.

Edmonds trains Brotherly Secret for his son, KC Edmonds, and well known Inverell identity Paul Ehsman and his son.

“Would have been a big weekend if KC had won their grand final,” he said of his son’s Gunnedah Bulldogs who lost their Group 4 grand final 34-28 to North Tamworth at Jack Woolaston Oval on Sunday.

“He was shattered after the game. He’s only 19 though and worked very hard for that.”

Edmonds doesn’t have anything in mind for Brotherly Secret except “maybe a freshen up”.

He’s also hopeful of gaining a spot in the Kosciuszko with Mishani Sleuth.

“He’ll run at Doomben again on Saturday,” he said.

“Be great to get a run in that race but it will come down to who you know, just going to be hard to get a slot.”
