While many residents may have forgotten about the mobile stage, which was previously positioned in the creek bed, with surrounding seats, the Kootingal Recreation Reserve Committee certainly haven’t.
They recently banded together to haul the four tonne structure out of the creek bed, where it previously operated, and have now got it on the reserve, with renovations about to begin.
They also held the inaugural Kootingal Country Fare on Father’s Day to raise money for the project, and after being “blown away” by the crowd that rolled in are confident the amphitheatre will soon be returned to its halcyon days.

KRRC booking officer Alan Betts said the amphitheatre will be a really valuable community asset that could host live entertainment and even public movie nights, as well as being able to haul it down the main street.
“The potential is great, and we have already had plenty of interest,” he said.
“We are hoping to have it up and running by Christmas, maybe have carols by candlelight.
“We could also use it for bands during country music camping and things like that.”
The renovations are going to focus in lowering the stage and installing rails to meet safety regulations, as well as rewiring the electricity, recladding the walls, and some other general maintenance.
While the amphitheatre will reside alongside the reserve’s football ground, the renovations will also allow it to remain mobile so it can be moved to the main street, or anywhere else.
“The committee has asked in kind for any electricians, painters, builders or anyone else that can help out – we have had a great community response,” Mr Betts said.
