It is almost 50 years since The Bushwackers began as a folk band in the early 1970s, and their latest single, Oh How The Memories Have Flown, and the accompanying video clip, look back at their long career.

For the veteran band, the song was a chance to say thank you and pay homage to it’s longtime fans, lead singer Dobe Newton said.
And those fans often include several generations of family members, which is what inspired the track.
Bass player Roger Corbett penned the song after listening to many stories of fans whose parents and grandparents had also been fans.
Then Roger’s five-year-old nephew George told him he’d learned all the words to Beneath The Southern Cross, a Bushwackers’ song from the 1980s.
“When George was five, which was a couple of years ago now, he started pestering Rog with requests for songs, and he’d learnt the words to them,” Newton said.
“That got us thinking about what a unique experience it’s been that we’ve got to actually play to at least three generations now, because we’ve been around so long.
“And when we posted the video, one of the comments was ‘that’s not true, we’ve got four generations’, so I felt really, really old.
“That’s something that I can’t imagine many other bands, especially, have ever had the privilege of doing so,” he said.
The song is the fifth single to be released from The Bushwackers’ album The Hungry Mile, which was released at the beginning of last year.
”The response to this album has been fantastic,” Newton said. “We haven’t done an album like this for ages where there has been so many original songs.”
