A seminar in Tamworth on September 18 will show property owners, council members and filmmakers how to bring productions to the region.
The next day, there will be a location scouting workshop for aspiring scouts and filmmakers to learn more about the trade.
Seminar attendees will hear from Matt Carroll, the producer of some of Australia’s most renowned films (Sunday Too Far Away, Breaker Morant); and Colin McDougall, the location manager for such films as Pacific Rim Uprising and Mad Max: Fury Road.

Mr Carroll said the seminar would focus on the assets to be found in and around Tamworth, Gunnedah and the Liverpool Plains.
“These regions are surrounded by some of the richest and varied agricultural country in the nation,” he said.
“National parks, diverse architecture, historic townscapes and quaint country villages – combined with easy access via rail, road and air – are all excellent resources to attract TV and film productions.
“With better promotion of these significant assets, there is potential to attract more inbound screen productions, bolster the local economy and create more jobs.”
Northern NSW-based screen industry organisation Screenworks, with the support of Create NSW, is bringing this seminar to the region.
There will be information about the incentives on offer for productions in regional NSW; the role of the location manager; the look and logistics required for film locations; and how to publicise a property or land to production companies.

Screenworks chief executive officer Ken Crouch said the seminar was for anyone who was “keen to learn more about the location scouting profession or [had] ever wanted your property to be used in a feature film or TV series”.
“You should be attending this seminar so that you can find out about the business of filming locations, and how to market your property to generate extra revenue,” he said.
“This seminar is intended for aspiring location scouts and managers, as well as property owners, government location liaison officers and tourism officers.”
