The men in green spent the first 45 minutes of their game playing against the wind to lead 1-nil at half-time, courtesy of a Brent Pedlow-goal
The second stanza opened up for the side to come home strong and emerge as winners 9-1.
“The wind played havoc,” Easts coach Mark Gwynne said.
“They had the advantage in the first-half and it was only 1-nil at half-time.
“In the second-half it was probably blowing diagonally across the field.
“It just took us ages to score.”
Pedlow managed four goals, Corby Kliendienst two while Jake Davies, Jake Mccann and Kieran Davies got the rest.
“We played well in patches but the first-half wasn't impressive,” Gwynne said.
“There were a lot of scrappy passes.
“The wind has a lot to do with it but if you play the ball in the air you ask for trouble.”
This weekend for round 20 Easts have the bye.
Gwynne said it helps the side out with a few minor injuries among the squad but the following week’s game against North Companions is a must-win.
“We have got a bye and we have a few little niggly injuries,” he said.
“We have got to win that one [North Companions game], if we don't win we are in deep shit.
“If we run second then we get two cracks at it but then if we beat them down there then the grand final could be here.
“DK, we are three or four ahead of them on goal difference now and they play Norths, you don't know.”
