The 21-year-old wears a number made famous over the years by the likes of former Country Firsts star Joe Craigie and NSW Residents halfback Stewart Porter.
The latter will also be on the bench this Saturday for Werris Creek at the ripe old age of 47, as the Magpies play Narrabri in the elimination final.
Porter’s addition to the side at stages of the game will be a bonus. But for much of it, Berry will be one of the main players steering the talented side around.
Berry is also the goalkicker and is in his first year at the Creek.

He went to school in Tamworth – primary at Hillvue and secondary at Peel.
He played under-18s for West Lions and then turned out in seniors with Collegian Warriors.
There weren’t many wins at the Warriors, who folded at the end of last season.
“It’s been awesome,” he said of his tenure at the Creek. “They’ve been real good to me. They are really good blokes and they can play football.”
He’s always wanted to play first grade football and as a youngster he used to watch his uncle, Ray Berry, play for North Tamworth. “He was my favourite player,” he said of the flying Bear.
As for the Magpies, he’s looking forward to helping them win Saturday’s elimination final.
Berry described Saturday’s clash as “massive”. “When we beat them here [the Creek] two weeks ago, it was a pretty dominant performance,” he said
He is just one of a number of match winners the Magpies have, said co-coach Matt Parsons.
It’s not just about winning, though, he added.
“We want to build the culture of the club,” he said. “And we want them all back next year.
“We can do great things this year too. If we get it right, we can be as dangerous as anyone. And we do have a lot to build on.”
Parsons said if someone had said at the start if the season that the side would be in this position, he would have answered “you are crazy”.
“However we have done a lot of work and trained hard. Destiny is with them,” he said.
