Hunter New England Central Coast Primary Health Network (HNECCPHN) will be hosting an information stall at AgQuip to inform people about My Health Record.
My Health Record is an individual’s safe and secure digital health information, easily accessible by healthcare providers involved in a person’s care including GPs, pharmacists and hospitals.
A convenient way to keep track of key health information including medical conditions, medications, allergies, blood test results and advance care plans, My Health Record can provide many benefits to people in regional and remote areas.
HNECCPHN Digital Health Officer and Walcha farmer Tim McGeoch is looking forward to speaking to AgQuip visitors about how having a My Health Record could benefit them.
Mr McGeoch said his family already uses My Health Record and find having one brings them peace of mind.
“To access most health services we have to travel long distances,” Mr McGeoch said.
“Knowing that mine and my family’s important health information is available to healthcare providers brings me peace of mind, especially if we ever found ourselves in an emergency.”

National Rural Health Alliance CEO Mark Diamond said My Health Record could assist with saving the lives of Australians who live in country regions.
“Australians living in rural and remote areas are more likely to end up in an emergency department from a heart attack, car accident or diabetic coma,” Mr Diamond said.
“If they’re unconscious, and the medical team doesn’t have access to their health history, the team may not be able to provide life saving care.
“A My Health Record means that all your important health information is at the fingertips of your doctor, nurse or surgeon.”
Visitors to AgQuip can stop by site D24 to ask questions and find out more about My Health Record.
Over six million Australians have already registered for a My Health Record.
At the end of the year, Australians with a Medicare or Department of Veteran’s Affairs Card will receive a My Health Record unless they choose not to.
Those who wish to opt out of having a record created for them have until November 15 to do so.
