The meeting was hosted by the National Farmers Federation (NFF) and saw delegates from multiple rural groups such as Aussie Helpers, Rotary and Rural Aid come together.
Topics ranged from the broad, such as drought impacts and drought proofing, to localised issues such as fundraising and aid distribution.
Aussie Helpers team member Dave Moon told Fairfax Media a lot of good came from the meeting.
“In my opinion the meeting with the NFF was very positive,” Mr Moon said.
“I think it helped them understand what all of the support groups are doing and where the money is actually going.
“As well as that, from our perspective, it also gave us a chance to put names to faces from the other groups and work out who is who and who is doing what.”
Mr Moon said Aussie Helpers would take several new strategies away from the meeting.
“Co-operation is key when dealing with an issue like widespread drought and it dominated discussion,” he said.
“The purpose of having the round-table meeting was to allow for everyone to get to know who’s who and learn more about what each group does.
“I think we took a lot of positive information away from the meeting and now it is up to all of us to best use the information and continue to help everyone in need as much as we can.”
