In what is surely a win win for both farmers and patrons 13 Tamworth establishments, and hundreds more around the state, have joined forces with Lion Beers to chip in 50 cents for every schooner and $1 from every carton of Iron Jack sold.
The initiative is set to continue until the target of $1 million dollars is reached, with the campaign already donating $100,000 to Rural Aid to get the ball rolling.

The Tamworth pubs include the Post Office, Joe Maguires, The Pub, The Southgate, The Locomotive, The Imperial and The Longyard, while bowling clubs Tamworth City, South Bowlo, North Bowlo, as well as the Tamworth Golf Club, Wests Diggers and The Services Club are all involved.
Manager of the Services Club North Bowlo Chris Clarke said that he has already seen a few regulars switch to Iron Jack since the launch of the campaign.
“It is one of our most popular beers anyway, and it is great to see Tooheys get behind us to help out farmers.”
Meanwhile the Tamworth Hotel have come up with a unique initiative they are calling the Karma Keg Fridays.
On Fridays the pub is putting a keg on where patrons “pay what you feel” for a schooner, with all proceeds going to Buy a Bale. Breweries Grand Ridge, Mountain Goat and Endeavour are all on board.
Publican Luke Prout applauded his customers for their integrity in digging deep following the first karma Keg last Friday.
“The average people were paying was $9 a schooner which is unreal – we raised $810 on the first night,” he said.
“We will be doing it for three more Fridays, and we hope it gets bigger each week.”
