To spot 200 bird species to mark Tamworth’s 200 years.
Binoculars were at the ready when the birdwatchers spotted their 201st bird, the Inland Thornbill, a cock-tailed brown bird often confused with the Brown Thornbill.
“It’s a quiet hobby but when you see a species for the first time it can be quite exciting,” Tamworth Birdwatchers member Bruce Terrill said.
“We were happy to get to 200 but now we’re committed to see how many birds we can see.”

With seven of the 201 spotted species identified as feral, the group will keep their eyes to the sky until the end of the year for 200 natives.
