Former Armidale student Hester Fraser, aka Goldheist, is pledging her song Dust to raise funds for the drought.
“In 2014 my dad sent me photos of the place where I grew up,” Goldheist said.
“I was horrified to find it almost unrecognisable, so ravaged by drought it had become.”
At 50 years old, Goldheist’s father was hand-feeding more than 800 cattle every week by himself, a manually intensive job for a team of young men.
“Let alone a middle-aged farmer on his own,” she said.

“And many had it worse.”
