Quirindi High School golden girl Lacie Quigley shrugged off an ankle injury that kept her sidelined for several months to be crowned the NSW All Schools under-14s girls cross-country champion in Sydney on Friday.

Representing North West, the distance star clocked 14mins 44.9secs for the 4km event to defend her All Schools title.
The Year 9 student also qualified to compete at the nationals on the Sunshine Coast in August with her time the fourth fastest for the 14s and 15s age groups combined.
St Nicholas Tamworth’s Isabella Wall also won gold in the 10-years girls while former McCarthy student Ella Heeney was first in the 18-years+ girls.

Quigley and Wall were among several northern runners to finish on the podium.
Binnaway Central School’s Marcus Nolan was the first Combined High Schools runner home in the 14-years boys multi-class event, and was third overall.
Moree Secondary College’s Jesse James meanwhile won silver in the CHS event in the 13-years boys multi-class and bronze for the All Schools, while Carinya’s Abbie Peet was second in the 10-years girls multi-class.
Top 10 finishes were also achieved by Coolah Central School pair Amber Thomas (seventh) and Annabelle Soster (10th) in the 8/9-years girls, while Quigley’s younger brother Logan (St Joseph’s Quirindi) was eighth in the 12/13-years boys.
