This is the second year in a row the Tamworth Business Chamber has released the names of nominees and finalists before the big night, and comes on the back of a record amount of responses.
Chamber president Jye Segboer said the gala event highlighted excellence and leadership in business in the Tamworth region.

“We made some progressive changes to the awards process last year to ensure all local businesses, large or small, feel supported to enter – and the positive widespread results this year are reflected in the finalists announced today,” he said.
“Announcing the finalists ahead of the awards provides a great opportunity for finalists and their business networks to get together and celebrate their hard work and success.”
Many of the 500 nominees were entered across multiple categories, giving insight into the support shown by the community as everyone battles through the difficult times brought about by drought.
After the nomination period closed, more than 75 per cent of acceptances had named the drought as the number-one challenge facing them in the next 24 months – which while worrying, also showed the continued positivity of the community.
“After an intensive nomination and judging process, we can’t wait to showcase those in our business community who go above and beyond,” Mr Segboer said.
“Entering the awards gives businesses a chance to build their profile, motivate staff, improve relationships with customers and suppliers, and strengthen their position in the business community.”
The awards have also been strengthened by a record number of sponsors; the debut of the People’s Choice Award, which will open on Monday; as well as the naming of high-calibre business commentator and funnyman Paul Murray as special guest.
Finalists in each category will be named on Monday, while polling will also open on the first-ever The Northern Daily Leader People’s Choice Award.
