Tamworth Regional Council’s business and community director John Sommerlad told The Leader trains would be rolling “up to three a week, in and out of this site by the second half of 2018” in November last year.
The multi-million dollar rail freight hub was back on the table at an extraordinary meeting of council on Tuesday.
A lease proposal for part of the land attached to the freight hub was discussed by councillors in a meeting closed to the public.
Council refused to comment on why eight months after the project was announced construction is still yet to start, and the details of the lease proposal until next week.
