Event organiser Terry Robinson said the Rotary Clubs of Tamworth First Light and Sunrise were “very deliberate” with the “smaller, worthwhile charities” they chose to support.
“We wanted to cover mental health, cancer support and youth at risk,” he said.
“They’re all very prominent issues in our community that don’t get the attention they should.
“Most of them are saying this helps us stay in business for the next 12 months. Youth Insearch said they’ll be able to do an extra camp now.
“Can Assist is always looking for funding to help cancer patients travel to their treatment, while Billabong Clubhouse provides mental health service for people in our region, another underfunded issue.”
Plans are already underway for next year’s event, which will be held in April.
“It’s growing, we had a little over 300 riders,” Mr Robinson said.
“There were a few more out of town riders, which is fantastic to think we are drawing in people from outside the city.”
Mr Robinson made special mention to the businesses of Tamworth.
“Their commercial sponsorship goes a long way,” he said.
