When it comes to self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs), Roberts & Morrow has a long history of advising clients, and has developed over the years a dedicated team of SMSF administrators and advisors.

A SMSF is a private superannuation fund, regulated by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) that you manage yourself.

SMSFs can have up to four members, and all members must be trustees or directors, if there is a corporate trustee.

A trustee or director is responsible for decisions made about the fund, and ensure compliance with relevant laws.

Set up costs, and annual running expenses, can be high so it is most cost-effective if you have a significant balance to invest.

SMSFs are a highly regulated investment vehicle with concessional tax treatment that must be used for the sole purpose of providing retirement benefits to members.

They have become very popular with more than 500,000 SMSFs now operating for 1 million Australian members.

A professional who is licensed to provide SMSF advice can help you weigh up the pros and cons of running a SMSF, and help you decide whether it is right for you.

An advisor can also assist with the administration, and investment decisions, for your SMSF. You cannot pass on the responsibility for being a trustee or director, so you must be aware of your adviser decisions at all times.

An accredited SMSF Association Specialist and CA SMSF Specialist, Alistair Galbraith heads the Roberts & Morrow Superannuation division.

The team is comprised of Partners Paul Williams, a highly experienced Tax Counsel, Jason Simmonds a CA SMSF Specialist, Kyle Pearson a Certified Financial Planner and several registered SMSF auditors.

With combined experience of more than 130 years, our specialist SMSF team has a breadth of experience allowing advice to be considered from every angle.

Roberts & Morrow Superannuation can take you through the myriad of strategies covering the whole superannuation life cycle including how to maximise contributions going in, making the most of investment possibilities whilst accumulating benefits, and using the most effective strategies of paying benefits out.

It is imperative to understand how superannuation fits within your overall wealth strategy, and the interaction with your estate.
