But for now here are the reports from the weekend.
AFL
Tamworth Swans coach Paul Kelly says they are ticking boxes that they hadn’t even set goals for, after notching their first win over Narrabri in Narrabri for “a long time” on Saturday. The 14.14-.98 to 8.5-53 win was the Swan’s fourth of the season as their revival continues – a revival that has them daring to dream of playing finals.
RUGBY LEAGUE
The Roosters’ premiership aspirations may have received a huge mauling. Not only did the previously unbeaten Kootingal-Moonbi slump to their first loss of the season when comprehensively beaten 46-22 by an overpowering Bears pack at Jack Woolaston Oval on Sunday, but key Roosters personnel may have also suffered serious injuries that could have major repercussions.
RUGBY LEAGUE
Chris Hunt may be a 37-year-old rugby league junkie, but the game doesn’t feel like a habit to the former Greater Northern Tigers representative – far from it.
And why would it when, after all these years, he still plays with such snap, crackle and pop? Doubtful there was a winning grin that beamed quite like Hunt’s following the Bears’ 46-22 win over the Roosters at Jack Woolaston Oval on Sunday, the four-time reigning premiers’ 33rd straight home win.
BASKETBALL
The Tamworth Thunderbolts men overcame a shaky second quarter to tip-off a tricky three week away run with a 74-65 win over the Coffs Harbour Suns in Coffs Harbour on Saturday night. The John Ireland-coached side came out firing, scoring the first nine points of the match as they raced out to a eight point lead at the first break.
